The Portuguese coach’s dismissal followed a decline in results over the past period as he failed to win 5 consecutive games in the Saudi Roshen League and dropped to sixth place on 21 points.
Al-litthad team also lost last Monday to the Iraqi Air Force with a clean double in the current Asian Champions League.
Al-litthad signed the Portuguese coach on July 4, 2022, succeeding Romanian Cosmin Contra, and Santo was crowned the team with the Saudi Rosen League last edition, and the Saudi Super Cup.
A verbal brawl broke out between Karim Benzema, a striker for the Saudi Federation of Jeddah and Portuguese coach, Nuno Santo, after losing to the Iraqi Air Force by 2-0 on Monday in the AFL group stage.
The Spanish network “Relevo” reported that a fight took place between Nuno Santo, the itthad Jeddah coach, and French star Karim Benzema inside the locker room after the Asian fall to the air force.
The network added that Santo and Benzema uttered insulting words to some of them in front of players inside the itthad Jeddah locker room, where the Portuguese coach sees the French star as inconsistent with the team and the former Real Madrid player does not like the manager’s style.
