Senegal captain Sadio Mane took part in his 100th international game, succeeding in two goals and creating a goal before leaving the match field in the 63rd minute.

The 31-year-old had contributed to 3 goals, leading the “Teranga Lions” to defeat South Sudan by a clean quartet, scoring two goals and creating one.

In 100 caps, the striker scored 39 goals and provided 22 assists, helped his country win the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations and reach the World Cup finals in 2018 and 2022.

Senegal honored their player Sadio Mane on the occasion of his arrival in the 100th international match, before the start of the team’s clash with South Sudan, on the first pitch on Saturday, and within the first round of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup.

Senegal gave Mane a 100 shirt, to the applause of the players and fans present in the stadium’s stands.

Senegal is competing in Africa’s qualifiers for the World Cup in Group II, with the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Mauritania, Togo, Sudan and South Sudan in its side.

Senegal seeks to overtake rivals South Sudan and pick up three points in order to make a strong start in their campaign towards qualifying for the second consecutive World Cup.

The “Tiranga Lions”, led by coach Aliu Cissé, are armed with many stars headed by Saudi Al-nassr star Sadio Mane, Tottenham star Bab Sarr, Chelsea forward Nicolas Jackson, French Marseille star Ismaila Sarr, as well as national guard Edouard Mendy and Crescent defender Caledo Koulebalie.

9 teams are scheduled to qualify directly for the 2026 World Cup, following an increase in the number of teams in the tournament’s new system, which will include 48 teams rather than 32 in previous editions of the World Cup.
