A proposed law changes the form of arbitration in football

Like handball matches and some team games, it seems that a proposed law will change the form of arbitration in football regarding cases of expulsion of some players during matches.

According to what was reported by news agencies today, the International Football Association Board (IFAB), the sport’s legislative body, is studying the application of the temporary suspension penalty in football, which is a new case between yellow cards and red cards.

According to the proposal, the player will be deprived of participating in the match for a period of 10 minutes, for example, if he commits a mistake. This penalty can be doubled during the match, and if it is repeated for a third time, the expulsion will be final.

This technique is called sin box violations.

Jamie Carragher, the former England and Liverpool defender, who is now a Sky Sports analyst, wrote on X (formerly Twitter): “I was never a fan of sin boxes before, but we watch a lot of matches that contain cards and for me it’s… “It spoils the game.”

Carragher continued: “In some cases this season, there has been something more than just yellow, but red seems harsh for Marcus Rashford and Curtis Jones.”

The International Football Association Board said that any proposed changes to the football laws will be considered for approval on March 2 of next year, and the approved changes will be incorporated into the laws as of July 1.
