Croatia’s Ivan Rakitic, Sevilla’s midfielder, looks set to surprise the Saudi Professional League’s winter transfer window.

In a report published by the Spanish platform “Relevo”, entitled “Bomb in Seville”, it was reported that Ivan Rakitic was close to leaving, and some of the club’s staff had already been deposited.

The Spanish platform added that Rakitic has lost his prominent place in the squad since the arrival of coach Kiki Sánchez Flores, and has been a substitute in many games, even playing no minute in the last game against Girona.

Rilevo revealed that the 35-year-old is negotiating with the Saudi youth club playing in his Belgian ranks, former Atletico Madrid player Yannick Carrasco, adding that one step separates him from joining the team.

The al-shabab will thus make up for the departure of Argentina’s Iver Panega, who moved to the Argentine ranks of Newles Old Boys during the current winter transfer window.

Saudi Arabia’s winter transfer window is due to end a day before it closes in Europe, specifically on 30 January 2024.

Rakitic returned to Sevilla in the summer of 2020, having spent 6 seasons in Barcelona.

The al-shabab are ranked 11th in the Roshen League table with 21 points collected from 19 matches, knowing that the competition is currently suspended due to the holding of the 2023 Asian Cup
