The Saudi Football Federation announced the end of the second (winter) registration period for the 2023-2024 season, according to the schedule approved by the professional committee and the conditions of players in the federation.
The winter transfer window began with the first moment of entry in the 2024 New Year for the Roshin Pro League and the Yellow League for the top-flight clubs, and the second and third leagues.
The transfer market or transfer window is the period during the football season during which football players are allowed to move between clubs and register new players, the transfer market is divided into a summer transfer period and is before the start of the season, and a winter transfer period and is in the middle of the season.
According to FIFA, English clubs have spent the most with a new record of $2.96 billion, and Saudi Arabia’s top five clubs have shown spending in the world, attracting some of the best players from European clubs to the Saudi Professional League after signing Cristiano Ronaldo.
Saudi clubs broke into the top 5 for the first time, after their total spending reached $970 million as a result of including stars such as Brazilian Neymar (Al-Hilal), Senegalese Sadio Mane (Al-Nasr), and Algerian Riyad Mahrez (Al-Ahly).
Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo and his former French colleague Karim Benzema also moved to Al-Nasr and Al-Ittihad, respectively, but on free deals.
