The al-shabab club said in an official statement that Portuguese coach Vitor Pereira agreed to postpone Carrasco’s return, having seen the recommendation of the Belgium team doctor overseeing the player’s rehabilitation, during the recent phone call with Italian al-shabab club sporting director Dominic Tete.

The medical service overseeing Carrasco’s rehabilitation confirmed that the programme developed for the player was going well and that his injury had improved considerably according to the tests he had undergone.

The Medical Service indicated that it would prefer not to urgently return Carrasco, and to continue his rehabilitation under the supervision of the Belgian team’s doctor and in coordination with the Medical Service of the Club, which is following the developments of his injury and his first qualification.

For his part, sporting director Dominique Tete said that he trusted all the players of the team; Stressing that they are ready for the challenges ahead starting from the next match.

Tete added: “All of the club’s staff are working as one group in order to delight the young fans who will be proud of the performance of the players on the pitch, as we look forward to seeing you all on Saturday night in our stadium.”

The absence of the Belgian player from his team’s clash against Al-Hilal was confirmed in the derby scheduled for Saturday, in the 25th round of the Saudi Professional League.

Carrasco joined the “Liuth” ranks during the last summer transfer window, coming from Atletico Madrid for 15 million euros.

Carrasco participated with the youngsters in the Saudi Professional League this season in only 15 games, during which he scored 3 goals, and made the same.
