The popular Google search engine revealed that Cristiano Ronaldo has achieved a new record, being the most searched athlete in a quarter of a century.
Ronaldo finished first, followed by German Formula One racing star Michael Schumacher, who was in a coma for several years after an accident during his ice skating in Switzerland in 2014.
Ironically, Argentine legend Lionel Messi, regarded by many as the best footballer in history and Ronaldo’s longtime rival, did not appear in Google’s individual search records, according to Portuguese newspaper Record.
Although Google did not provide official figures, reports suggest that Ronaldo significantly outperformed searches, compared to Lionel Messi and other football stars.
Ronaldo’s most remarkable moments during his career were winning five gold balls, winning the Champions League title 3 consecutive times with Real Madrid Spain, as well as being crowned the Euro 2016 European Nations Cup with Portugal.
Cristiano Ronaldo is also the person with the highest number of followers on Instagram worldwide, with 615 million followers, reflecting his influence on and off the field.
Ronaldo continues his great brilliance in the Roshin League this season, becoming top scorer in the domestic tournament, with 16 goals, followed by Serbian al-hilal professional Aleksandar Mitrovic with 14 goals.
Ronaldo joined Saudi Arabia’s al-nassr in January 2023 and made 22 appearances with him, scoring 20 goals.
