Saudi Arabia snatched a 2-1 victory over rivals Oman in the first round of the 2023 Asian Cup group stage in Qatar.

Salah al-Yahiye scored the red lead in the 14th minute from the penalty spot, and Green tied the feet of Abdul Rahman Ghraib in the 78th minute after a distinctive dribble, and Ali al-Balehi added the second in the 96th minute

Thailand are top of the Group F table with 3 points, half with Saudi Arabia, and Kyrgyzstan are bottom without points on goal difference from Oman.

Saudi Arabia relied on aiming from outside the box with a diversification of play between left and right in search of crosses and breakthroughs of Saud Abdul Hamid.

The Omani team carried out the counter-attack in a tight manner on more than one occasion, most notably with the feet of Salah al-Yahiye, which prevented the model from hugging the nets.

Abdul Rahman Ghraib successfully exploited his individual skill, penetrated the red defence and scored the equaliser in the 78th minute of a distinctive goal,

Saudi Arabia’s attacking attempts did not result in a new one in the light of the defensive intensity of the Omani team and the

concentration of goalkeeper Ibrahim al-Mekhini, only in the 96th minute with a goal by Ali al-Balehi, whose validity was confirmed after the return of the video technology.
