The al-hilal club goalkeeper, Mohammed Al-Owais, underwent back surgery on Tuesday after suffering from a recent injury.
The Blue Hilaly team said on its X-platform (previously Twitter) that Owais had left Saudi Arabia for France to undergo surgical work, in coordination with the club’s medical staff.
Al-Owais missed Al-Hilal last stage, and his final appearance in action dates back to November, specifically during his participation with Saudi Arabia team in qualifying for the 2026 World Cup and 2027 Asian Cup.
The 32-year-old goalkeeper’s injury has alarmed fans by threatening to miss out on the Green “saudi team” at the finals of the Yellow Continent Championship, to be held in Qatar between January and February next year.

Al Owais owns 46 international matches, including 4 in the World Cup, in the 2018 and 2022 editions.
She noted the al-hilal guard’s absence of two to three months from the grounds.
Al-Owais will miss Al-Hilal in the derby, the Kong cup semi-final and the ACL final.
The Asian Nations Cup will begin with Saudi Arabia on January 12 in Qatar.
Al-Hilal team will meet its counterpart Abha in the Saudi League on Thursday, at 8 p.m. in the 18th round of the Saudi Roshen League competition.
Al-Hilal is top of the Roshin League with 47 points, 10 points behind Al-Washaf, and Al-Hilal faces his counterpart Abha in the 18 round of the Saudi Professional League.
