Georgie Jesus, the head coach of Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal Club, said Salman Al-Faraj’s exclusion from the team’s list in his final game was due to disciplinary rather than technical reason.
Al-Faraj missed the clash against Al-Hilal and Al-wehda, which ended with the first winning two free goals, at the stadium of Al-Malaz on Friday, and within the seventeenth round of the Roshin League.
Speaking at a post-match press conference, the Portuguese coach spoke about why the 34-year-old was turned away, saying: “I as a coach, my most important is the team, the crescent is most important even from Jesus, I saw that Salman Al Faraj’s action was not in the best interests of the team.”
He added: “Salman’s absence from the team game in front of the unit was not technical but disciplinary, and regarding disciplinary matters we resolve within the club, and in order to protect the interest of the team the decision was taken without specifics.”
Salman al-Faraj had participated with al-Hilal Club in 12 matches in various competitions this season 2024/2023, during which he produced two crucial assists, while still looking for his first goal.
Al Hilal Club is ranked first with 44 points from 16 games in the Saudi Roshen League table.
Al-Hilal won the triple unanswered cooperation in the quarter-finals of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Cup.
