Cristiano Ronaldo tweets about his meeting with His Highness the Crown Prince

During the speech of His Highness the Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman at the opening of the New World Sports Conference in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, a shot of Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo applauding His Highness was one of the most prominent events on the X platform (formerly Twitter).

The conference witnessed the launch of the Electronic Sports World Cup, which His Highness the Crown Prince described as “the next natural step in the Kingdom’s journey to become the first global center for gaming and electronic sports, as it will provide an unparalleled experience, beyond what is known in the sector.”

The eSports World Cup will be held in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, annually, starting in the summer of 2024.

Ronaldo was among the attendees who lined up in the first seats and greeted His Highness the Crown Prince after the opening was announced, as shown in the following picture.

Among the attendees were the Saudi Minister of Sports, Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, the President of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), Gianni Infantino, and a number of sports figures.

His Highness the Crown Prince said on the sidelines of the conference that the tournament will contribute to strengthening our commitment to achieving the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, including diversifying the economy, strengthening the tourism sector, providing job opportunities in various sectors, and providing high-level entertainment for citizens, residents and visitors alike.

Ronaldo posted on his personal Twitter account a picture of himself with His Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and commented: “I am honored to meet again with Prince Mohammed bin Salman.”

He added: “It is wonderful to be part of this session today to discuss the future of e-sports and the launch of the first-ever tournament that will be held in Saudi Arabia next year.”
