Conflicting feelings dominated Brazil’s Roberto Firmino, captain of Al Ahli, after the loss at the hands of the al-akhdood in the Saudi Professional League.
Al Ahli fell into the trap of losing by groove (2-3) on Friday evening in the 20th round of the competition.
The loss stopped a run of 3 consecutive victories for the league’s green team.
Firmino scored his fourth goal for Ahli since joining the team at the beginning of the current season, the first since his triple-double in the opening round of the league, 189 days ago.
Firmino wrote a message on his Instagram account after the game, expressing his sadness at the loss, and his pleasure to return to the goalscoring after a long absence.
The 32-year-old Brazilian striker said: “It wasn’t the result we wanted, happy to score again, let’s keep working hard, friends.”
During remarks by the TV carrier after the game, the Brazilian said: “We got to the goal more than our rival, but the success betrayed us, while the groove players invested all the opportunities they had to achieve goals.”
