Press reports revealed that the management of the Saudi al-itthad Club made an important decision on the future of its Egyptian international defender, Ahmed Hegazi, team leader.
The al-itthad suffered in the 2023-24 season, where the Asian Champions League was farewelled in the quarter-finals by Al-Hilal, the Saudi Super Cup final was lost to Al-Hilal, and in the Saudi Copa del Rey semi-final the leader won it again, ending the season “zero” tournaments.

Dean’s management wants to rearrange first team football papers again, and intends to dispense with a number of foreign players.
Italian journalist Rudy Galletti explained on his official account on the social media platform “X” that the Federation wants to make room on the list of foreigners and will dispense with players for the next few weeks.
Galiti added that the players the club intends to do without their services were goalkeeper Marcelo Grohi, who the club had already decided to leave last January, as well as Egyptian Ahmed Hegazi.
The decision to dispense with Ahmed Hegazi is surprising and shocking to the fans of the Federation, especially since the 33-year-old does not miss the dean’s basic composition since he recovered from a cruciate ligament cut.
Hijazi had delegated to the Dean ranks of West Brom in the summer of 2020 for a season on loan, and then joined the Saudi club once and for all.
Is Ahmed Hegazi returning to the Premier League?
Ahmed Hijazi’s next destination is not known, especially since reports said that Burnley, Sheffield United, Middlesbrough and Cardiff City clubs expressed their desire to sign the Egyptian international, after recovering from the injury.
Ahmed Hijazi’s contract with the Federation extends until 2026, and at the start of the season he was excluded from the Saudi League team list, before being tied back after the last winter transfer window.
In total, Hijazi made 101 appearances for the Dean, scoring 12 goals and creating two, and contributing significantly to the team’s crowning the Saudi Pro League title last season 2022-23, for the first time since 2009.
