The English press continues to speculate about the future of former Liverpool captain and current Saudi deal Jordan Henderson, after half a season in the Roshen League.
Henderson’s name was linked to the departure from the al-ettifaq team in January and the return to play in Europe.
According to the English website Football Insider, Henderson was offered to some Premier League clubs and giants Juventus and Bayern Munich.
According to The Athletic, Liverpool have no intention of bringing Henderson back during the ongoing winter Mercato, despite the team’s need for a midfielder due to the presence of Japan’s Wataru Indo in the Asian Cup.
Henderson is looking to leave the deal just 6 months after his £ 12 million move, the report said, amid concerns about his place in England’s formation for Euro 2024.
However, the al-ettifaq upholds the player’s survival and his loan is not forthcoming because of his high salary.
It’s the same for coach Steven Gerrard, who wants to build a full team around Henderson.
The report noted that the lifestyle and climate in Saudi Arabia are behind the player’s desire to leave.
The al-ettifaq has suffered a marked decline in results, with no league victory since beating Unit 3-2 in the 11th round on 28 October.
