Portugal’s Georgie Jesus, head coach of the First al-hilal football team, has tipped the absence of Brazilian striker Neymar Jr. from the start of the prep period for next season.
“All I know now is that the estimated time for Neymar to recover, and in almost similar injuries, is ten to 11 months.”
He added: “If we calculate it, it will not be ready at the beginning of the preparation phase.”
To be eligible to compete in matches, the Portuguese asked to “wait until September, or October next.”
Neymar was injured in the cruciate ligament and meniscus of his left knee before halftime in the game that his country lost to Uruguay 0-2 in Montevideo, 17 October, in the qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.
The leader of the “Silissau” is absent from his country’s list in the 38 edition of the “Copa America”, scheduled between June 20 and July 14, in the United States.
On Tuesday, Neymar continued to perform qualifying exercises inside the gym at al-hilal’s headquarters, just watching his teammates perform ball drills.
Jesus admitted to suffering from a player injury problem, and “the solution was Malcom”, referring to the Brazilian winger, who scored 22 goals in 46 games.
“We’ve had an extraordinary season that exceeds my expectations,” the coach continued, due to “the quality of the players, their unity on and off the field.”
