Contrary to previous projections, Saudi press reports revealed that Spain’s Aymeric Laporte, the Al-Nassr defender, is close to recovering from his injury, and will be ready before the derby against Al-Hilal at the Saudi League Summit (Roshin Professional League).
Laporte suffered a foot wound in the swimming pool while at home, which kept him out of the Al-wehda 13th round of the Saudi League and Al Duhail in the fourth round of the AFC Champions League group stage.
According to press reports last Monday, Laporte’s return date is mysterious, raising doubts about the possibility of a Al-hilal derby match in the 15th round of the Saudi League, next Friday. But the sports newspaper reported Friday morning that Laporte’s foot wound inflammation began on its way to recovery and healing, which meant increased chances of him returning to training with his teammates, as well as participating in matches. The newspaper added that the 29-year-old Spanish defender will be ready for the crescent match, but in return he will miss the gully games, scheduled for this evening in the 14th round of the league, as well as Perspolis next Monday in the Asian Champions League. Al-Nassr is second in the Saudi League table with 31 points, trailing Al-hilal leaders by 4 points.
Al-Nassr is top of Group E in the AFC Champions League with 12 points, hitting the full mark after 4 rounds and coming close to qualifying for the knockout stages
