Serbian Aleksandar Mitrovic, the al-hilal striker, saved the historic “leader” series at the local level, after scoring a fatal goal against the ahli Jeddah on Tuesday evening in the semi-finals of the 2024 Saudi Super Cup.
Al Ahly took the first goal in the 66th minute of the second half, through Brazilian Roberto Firmino, after a distinctive cross from Algeria’s Riyad Mahrez.
However, the final minute saw Mitrovic succeed in scoring the equaliser via a distinctive header, after a brilliant cross from Salem Al Dossari, for both teams to head for penalties decided by “Blue.”
With this goal, Mitrovic saved the crescent from the first defeat at the domestic level, as the last defeat he suffered dates back to the season before last, specifically on May 23, when he fell to justice (0-2) in the Saudi League.
Al-Hilal avoided defeat in the last two league games of the 2022-2023 season, beating Abha and then the major, to begin the unbeaten series at the domestic level, which reached 44 games.
Last season, 2023-2024, he maintained an unbeaten record of 41 matches in domestic competitions, with 34 in the league, 5 in the Copa del Rey and 2 in the Super Cup.
Al-Hilal won the Saudi League during 31 matches and drew 3 times. In the Super Cup, he won victory (2-1) and then sealed the title against the Federation with a result (4-1).
At the level of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Cup, he won on 4 occasions and drew within one game of the final, before deciding him on penalties.
He continued his outstanding series during the 2024-2025 new season, tied with Al Ahly (1-1), before sealing the title on penalties, reaching a 44-game unbeaten run.
