Neom Club announced on Sunday the signing of Egyptian defender Ahmed Hegazi to lead their first football team’s defense, coming from Al-Ittihad, as revealed on their official social media account on “X”.
On July 19, a famous website reported that Neom had reached a final agreement with the Egyptian international. Another report mentioned that Hegazi will receive the same salary in his new contract as he did with Al-Ittihad.
Al-Ittihad had signed the Egyptian player in the summer of 2020 from West Bromwich Albion. Hegazi played 82 league matches for the Western team, scoring nine goals.
Hegazi succeeded with the “Tigers”, winning the Saudi Pro League (Roshn Saudi League) the season before last and the Saudi Super Cup.
After being promoted from the second division last season, Neom is preparing to participate in the Yelo League for first-division clubs.
This signing is part of Neom’s strategic plan to strengthen their squad as they aim for further promotions and success in the Saudi football leagues. With Hegazi’s extensive experience and leadership, Neom hopes to build a solid defense and compete at higher levels. Fans are eagerly anticipating his debut, expecting a significant impact on the team’s performance. The club’s management is confident that his presence will inspire the younger players and help in achieving their long-term goals.
