Croatia’s Ivan Rakitic is on the cusp of returning to his country for a new experience.
According to renowned transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, on his personal account via the social media site X, Rakitic will join the rows of the Croatian Haydock Sealt.
He added: “The agreement was concluded for two years, when the player’s contract will run until June 2026.”
“Rakitic is leaving the Saudi youth, despite his good time in Saudi Arabia, but he wants to take the step of playing in the Croatian League.”
He noted that the presence of Nikola Kalinic as athletic director, Ivan Perisic as teammate and Gennaro Gattuso as technical director had made the difference in convincing Rakitic to leave for the Croatian team.
Al-Shabaab officially announced the signing of Ivan Rakitic, last January, on a contract lasting until the summer of 2025, in a free transfer, coming from Sevilla, and the player participated in 8 games in a Liuth jersey, in a Saudi Roshin League competition, during which he scored a goal and created an assist.
Sports media outlet Fabrizio Romano previously reported on Twitter that Ivan Rakitic was preparing to move to Croatia’s Haydock Split, where the deal was on a two-year contract, until June 2026.
Rakitic played in the youth shirt only 8 games, scoring a goal and creating like him, since joining the Saudi team last January.
