Four Saudi Roshn Football League stars compete for the 2023 African Player of the Year award, which will be announced by the Continental Federation of the Game at the ceremony, hosted by the Moroccan city of Marrakech on December 11.

According to the statement issued by the African Union, the final list included the stars of the Senegalese Roshen League Sadio Mane team player Al-Nassr Aljaziri Riad Mahrez and Senegalese Edouard Mendy from Al-Ahly ‘ and Moroccan Yassin Bono of Team Al-hilal, along with Egyptian Mohamed Salah of Liverpool English Nigerian Victor Osimhen of Italian Naples, Moroccan Ashraf Hakimi of French Paris Saint-Germain and Joseph Neseiri of Seville Spain, Svian Amrabet of Manchester United England and Cameroonian duo Vincent Abubakar “Besiktas”, and Frank Anguisa “Naples”.
Al-hilal star awaits new award
The African Union is scheduled to announce the winner of the Best Goalkeeper Award in Africa at the annual awards ceremony, to be held in Senegal’s capital, Dakar, on December 15, 2023. The award will be voted on by African coaches and leaders, specialized media and online audiences.
Bono who played in Al-hilal in saudi roshn League hopes to receive this award, being the first Moroccan goalkeeper to win it, and the second Arab goalkeeper after Algeria’s Rice Mbolhi, who won it in 2019. Bono is one of the most important players in the Morocco squad, which is preparing for the 2026 World Cup, to be held in the United States of America, Canada and Mexico.
