Saudi The curse of the cruciate ligament hit several stars of the Saudi Professional League (SBA) during the current sports season (2023-2024), the latest of which was the keeper of the al-hilal, Habib Elwattan.
Al-Hilal announced that his guard had undergone numerous medical examinations, which proved that he had suffered from a severed cruciate ligament and cartilage, and that he would undergo surgery that would be determined later.
Al Wattan was not the only player to be injured by the Crusader during this season, preceded by Brazil’s Neymar da Silva last October.

Abdullah al-Jidani
In July 2023, his team’s goalkeeper, Abdullah Al-Jeddah, suffered a cut to the cruciate ligament.
Ahmed Sharahili
In September 2023, al-itthad Club revealed that its defender Ahmed Sharahili suffered a cut-off of the cruciate ligament, requiring surgery after being out injured during the 2-1 win over Al-Fatah, in the seventh round of the Saudi Professional League.
Abdullah Ateef
In September 2023, Ahly Jeddah player Abdullah Ateef suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury to his right knee.
Abdullah Ateef suffered this severe cruciate ligament injury on two occasions in his career with Al-Hilal, the first time from the 2014-2015 season.
The second time is back to the 2019-2020 season, and he was absent for 197 days, before suffering the same injury in his first season with Al Ahly.
Mohammed Mejrechi
In October 2023, Al Fayha announced the end of team player Mohamed Mejrechi’s season due to a cut in the anterior cruciate ligament of the right knee.
Al-Fayha and Bakhtakur Uzbekistan were injured in the 2023 AFC Champions League group stage.
Neymar
al-hilal fans were shocked in October 2023, after the club announced that their Brazilian star Neymar Jr. had been cut in the cruciate ligament and cartilage after participating with his country in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Neymar was out injured minutes before halftime in his country’s loss to Uruguay (2- 0) in the South American qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.
Hussein Kassem
In November 2023, team player Hussein Kassem was slashed in the cruciate ligament.
He was injured during his team’s clash against Riyadh in the 11th round of the Saudi Roshen League.
Abdul Karim Al-Sultan
Last December, Abdul Karim al-Sultan became the second crusader of the Al-Tai team.
The Sultan suffered the injury after entering a substitute during the opening clash in the 15th round of the Saudi Roshen League, which his team decided with an unanswered goal.
Ahmed Bamsoud
Al-itthad of Jeddah player Ahmed Bamsoud suffered a crusade injury last December during his team’s match against the 18-round major in the Saudi Professional Roshen League.
Rakan al-Talihi
The al-taawoun club revealed in December 2023 that its player Rakan Al-Talihi was injured in the anterior cruciate ligament of the right knee.
This is the player’s second injury after he suffered a complete ACL cut in November 2022.
Kim Seung Jiu
In January 2024, the South Korean Football Association announced that Kim Seung Jiu, the al-shabab team’s goalkeeper, had cut the cruciate ligament in his right knee.
Seung Jiu’s injury came during his country’s training in preparation for Jordan’s second-round clash with the 2023 Asian Cup.
