The Saudi Football Federation has revealed important decisions, most notably increasing the number of foreign players, and reducing the rosters of teams in the Saudi Roshen League, from next season 2024-25.

The announcement of the decisions came during the meeting of the Saudi Football Association, on the evening of Saturday, March 9, where the Director of Technical Department Nasser Largate reviewed the technical plan of the Saudi Federation until 2034, consisting of the organizational structure, future participation, discovery programs, courses and the ages of the players.

The Saudi Football Association has approved a technical plan to reduce the number of players in the first team list of clubs participating in the Saudi Roshin League from 30 to 25.

It has also been approved to increase the number of foreign players in the Saudi Roshen League to 10 instead of 8, in addition to a born player with 8 players on the list of each match
The Saudi Football Federation has also decided to suspend the league by the end of the current season, satisfying itself with the two-season experience it sees that has contributed to increasing the number of minutes of play among players.

Yasser Al-Mashal, president of the Saudi Football Federation, has made clear in media statements for weeks that there are many international players who want to move to the Saudi Roshen League in the future, stressing that the tournament will see a major boom in the coming phase.

Saudi Arabia’s Roshen League has seen a remarkable uptick in recent times after huge investments from clubs over the past period, with clubs signing the world’s leading ball stars, such as Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo, Brazilian Neymar Jr., French Karim Benzema, Algeria and Riyad Mahrez.

Teams run by the Saudi Investment Fund (Al-Hilal, Al-Nasr, Etihad and Al-Ahly) are planning high-calibre deals during the upcoming summer transfer window.

Al-Hilal presents impressive levels during the current season. Al-Hilali occupies the top of the  Roshen League competition with 65 points, 12 points behind Al-Nasr Al-Awsafa, while Al-Ahli Club comes third with 44 points.

The Federation is suffering from a decline in results this season in the  Roshen League, which culminates in the Tigers’ title Last season 2022-23, the club is fourth in the table with 40 points
