Flamengo’s top soccer player Leonardo Pereira has revealed that he will not be a substitute for his compatriot Neymar Jr., the Saudi Al-hilal star who is out with a cruciate ligament cut, during the upcoming winter transfer window.
Mauricio Fonseca, the Brazilian club’s media officer, said in press statements: “I spoke with Leonardo about this, and he assured me that he knew nothing about it once and for all, and that no official had reached out to him or the club for inclusion during the upcoming winter transfers.”
The Brazilian newspaper Globo Sport earlier confirmed that Al-Hilal had entered into serious negotiations to sign Flamengo defender Leo Pereira in the winter “Mercato” to be a replacement for his injured citizen Neymar.
She explained that the management of the capital club had allocated a substantial amount of money in order to persuade Flamengo to abandon Pereira’s services, noting that Portuguese Georgie Jesus, the current Blue coach and former Flamengo, had made a phone call to the player and asked him to have a new experience with the Al-hilal
Pereira is good at the centre-back and left-back positions, the latter suffering from the al-hilal due to Yasser al-Shahrani’s high exposure to injuries.
The 27-year-old’s contract with Flamengo expires in December 2027, and the player’s marketing value has reached 4 million euros, one of the most prominent elements of his Brazilian team.
