King Fahd International Stadium

King Fahd International Stadium, also known as "The Tent" or the "Pearl of Stadiums," stands as a significant sports and entertainment landmark in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. With a capacity to accommodate 58,398 spectators (to be expanded to 80,015), it serves as a versatile venue primarily for football matches, including hosting Al Hilal SFC and the Saudi national team's home games, as well as various athletics events.

Constructed in 1987, the stadium carries a rich history of hosting prestigious events. One notable milestone was its role as a venue for the 1989 FIFA World Youth Championship, including the tournament's final match.

In alignment with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, an ambitious reform program, the stadium witnessed a historic moment in September 2017 when women were permitted to enter and attend events, marking a significant step toward inclusivity.

Beyond its live events, King Fahd International Stadium has been featured in popular video games, such as the FIFA series, starting from the 2013 edition when the Saudi Pro League was introduced in the game. In the Pro Evolution Soccer series for PlayStation 2, the stadium appeared with a unique two-tier design, reminiscent of the 80th Birthday Stadium, the venue for the 2007 SEA Games in Thailand.

The construction of this remarkable stadium, a true architectural marvel, came at a cost of approximately 1.912 billion Saudi riyals or $510 million. Notably, the stadium's roof extends over an expansive 47,000 square feet and is supported by 24 columns arranged in a 247-meter diameter circle, creating an umbrella-like structure that provides shade to spectators, shielding them from the intense desert sun. Additionally, a special pavilion designed for members of the royal family is incorporated into the stadium's design, further highlighting its significance.

King Fahd International Stadium has not only been a venue for sports but has also ventured into hosting significant musical events. In October 2019, it hosted a concert by BTS as part of their Love Yourself: Speak Yourself World Tour, marking the first-ever international act to perform in the stadium and drawing an audience of 31,899 fans.

Furthermore, the stadium made history by hosting WWE's event Crown Jewel on October 31, 2019, attracting a substantial crowd.

In recent years, the stadium was the venue for all three matches of the 2021–22 Supercopa de España, ultimately won by Real Madrid. The semi-final match between Barcelona and Real Madrid was particularly significant as it marked the first official Clásico held in a stadium outside of Spain.

More recently, in October 2022, David Guetta performed during the opening ceremony of Saudi Games 2022, adding to the stadium's roster of remarkable events.

Notably, the stadium was the setting for the 2023 Supercopa de España Final in January 2023, which saw Barcelona emerge as the champions. Just three days later, it hosted the 2022 Supercoppa Italiana, featuring A.C. Milan and Inter Milan, adding to its legacy of hosting prestigious sporting events and musical performances.
