al-itthad-announces-fabinhos-absence-for-end-of-season

On Thursday, the Saudi al-itthad club announced the long-term absence of Brazilian midfielder Fabinho due to the injury sustained during the ACL crescent match.

The Brazilian left the field during the Asian Champions League quarter-final second leg against Al-Hilal at the 15th minute after suffering a strong muscle injury, to be confirmed by medical examinations.

“The medical examinations carried out by the player Fabinho showed that he suffered a straight muscle injury in his left thigh, which extended to the tendon inside the muscle tissue, following which he will need a ten-week treatment programme.”

Fabinho was confirmed to be sidelined for at least two and a half months, which means he is absent from important games for his team, in a painful blow to the player and fans of the federation, which considers the Brazilian one of its most prominent players this season.

Fabinho season ends due to injury

Given the extent of the injury and the expected absence period, Fabinho’s season is almost officially over, with his expected return to the stadiums to be after the date of the last match played by the al-itthad this season, which will be at the conclusion of the Saudi League against Al-Nasr.
The Gaddawi fans fear that their team level will be further affected by the absence of one of the most prominent midfielders, especially as the al-itthad suffers this season and heads to lose its domestic league title in favour of the leaders al-hilal, and has also recently left the AFC Champions League competition.

The al-itthad has one chance to be crowned this season’s title, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Cup, where the draw knocked him against the al-hilal once again in the semi-finals.
Fabinho is among the most regular players to play for the Etihad during the current season, making 29 appearances in various competitions, and succeeding in making 4 goals without scoring a goal.

It is worth mentioning that the 30-year-old had joined the Tigers in the summer transfer window 2023, coming from Liverpool and England in a deal worth more than 47 million euros, according to Transfair Market indicators, on a contract that runs until the summer of 2026.
