Who is José Garrido, the coach of Al-Qaisumah:

José António Rocha Garrido, born on July 11, 1960, in Luanda, Angola, is a Portuguese football manager and former professional footballer renowned for his role as a center-back. He currently serves as the manager of the Saudi club Al-Qaisumah.

Garrido's journey in football management began in the lower leagues of Portuguese football. His managerial career saw early stints with several Portuguese clubs, where he honed his skills and gained valuable experience. In May 2003, he took over as manager of F.C. Penafiel when the team was extremely close to relegation from Segunda Liga. Subsequently, he signed a contract with third-tier F.C. Vizela, demonstrating his dedication to the sport.

However, Garrido's managerial ambitions transcended borders. In November 2004, he ventured abroad, accepting a managerial position with Sabah FA in Malaysia. His expertise then extended to Kuwait, where he managed two prominent clubs, Kazma SC and Qadsia SC. In 2010, he achieved a significant milestone by securing the Bahraini King's Cup for Riffa SC, ending a 12-year drought in that competition.

Returning to his native Portugal in January 2011 after a seven-year hiatus, Garrido assumed the managerial role at Penafiel once again. However, his time there was short-lived, as he was replaced by Jorge Regadas in March of the same year.

Garrido's managerial journey continued to take him to various destinations in the Middle East. He managed Dhofar Club in Oman, Al-Nasr SC in Kuwait, and experienced a second stint with Riffa. His international managerial career reached a pinnacle when he was appointed as the head coach of the Gabon national football team in November 2016, following the dismissal of compatriot Jorge Costa. However, his tenure with Gabon was brief, and he was subsequently replaced by José Antonio Camacho in the same month. Garrido pursued legal action against the Gabonese Football Federation for wrongful dismissal and was awarded $514,000 in compensation by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

On September 24, 2019, Garrido assumed the role of manager at Al-Batin, a Saudi Arabian club. In his first season in charge, he achieved remarkable success by winning the MS League title and securing promotion to the Pro League.

His journey in football management continued, and on June 28, 2021, Garrido was appointed as the manager of Al-Jabalain.

On January 26, 2023, José Garrido took up the managerial reins at Al-Qaisumah, marking another chapter in his eventful and diverse career.

Throughout his managerial career, Garrido has showcased his tactical acumen and leadership skills, leaving an indelible mark on the teams he has managed.
