Argentine manager Marcelo Giardo appears to have reached the closing scene with the al-itthad of Jeddah in view of the shocking results received by the yellow and black team during the recent period.
Jayardo is tied to a contract with the al-itthad of Jeddah until June 2025, knowing that he took over the team’s coaching assignment last November following the departure of Portuguese Nuno Santo.
According to Argentina’s TyC Sports, the Federation administration decided to “expel” Jayardo from his post after a series of poor results in the Saudi League, eliminating the team’s chances of qualifying for the 2024-2025 AFC Champions League.
Press sources had previously indicated that the Jeddah Union was discussing several possible names for Marcelo Jayardo’s succession.
Qatar Cup Channel also reported that Fulham’s Portuguese manager Marco Silva is at the top of the list of candidates to succeed Giardo.
al-itthad of Jeddah came out with a zero season with Marcelo Giardo, after failing in the Saudi League, the domestic Super Cup, the Khadim Al-Haramain Cup, Club World and the AFC Champions League.
Under the Argentine leadership, the team has played 30 games so far, 13 of which have been lost, the Asian Champions League from the last eight, the Copa del Rey from the semi-finals and the Club World Cup from the second round, while the Diriyah Super Cup final has been lost and left the top four of the league.
During the last three rounds of “Roshin”, the 50-point Federation is attempting to snatch fourth place, qualifying for ACL 2, from cooperation, which is two points ahead. Theoretically, he could still finish in third place, but his hope was poor, leaving his third-ranked neighbor with eight points.
