Brazilian forward Roberto Firmino led Al-Ahli to a 3-1 victory over Austria’s Blau-Weiß Linz on Tuesday in their second friendly match during their ongoing training camp in Austria in preparation for the new season. Firmino scored two goals, with the third goal netted by Spanish player Gabri Veiga.
This victory marks the second consecutive win for Al-Ahli in their current camp, following a 1-0 win over Hungary’s Újpest last Thursday.
Al-Ahli’s coach, Matthias Jaissle, started the match with a lineup that included Senegalese goalkeeper Édouard Mendy, along with Rayan Hamid, Brazilian Roger Ibañez, Mohammed Bakr, Abdullah Al-Amar, Faisal Al-Subyani, Ivorian Franck Kessié, Abdul Karim Darsi, Ziyad Al-Juhani, Yassin Al-Zubaidi, and Firas Al-Buraikan. He made two substitutions during the first half, bringing on Bassam Al-Huraiji and Fahad Al-Rashidi for Rayan Hamid and Firas Al-Buraikan.
In the second half, Jaissle gave opportunities to ten players: goalkeeper Abdullah Abdo, Ali Majrashi, Fahad Al-Hamad, Abdulbasit Hindi, Saad Balubaid, Ali Al-Asmar, Spanish player Gabri Veiga, Samiha Al-Nabet, Brazilian Roberto Firmino, Algerian Riyad Mahrez, and Fahad Al-Rashidi, who had already been substituted in the first half.
Al-Ahli has two more friendly matches scheduled during their current camp, which runs until August 6, as part of their preparations for the new season. They will kick off the season with a match against Al-Hilal on August 13 in the semi-finals of the Saudi Super Cup.
