Media reports have revealed details of the Saudi al-litthad club’s offer to sign former Argentine manager Marcelo Gallardo to take over as the team’s technical director in the coming phase.
The Al-litthad club recently announced the dismissal of Portuguese Nuno Santo from team training, following a decline in performance and the collapse of results, despite his great successes with the “Dean” during last season, and the crowning of the Saudi League and the domestic Super League titles.
Marcelo Gallardo’s salary with the Al-litthad
According to Saudi newspaper Al-Youm, once a final agreement is reached between the parties, the Argentine coach will receive a huge annual salary of 22 million euros, becoming among the highest paid trainers in the world.
According to sporting news, Gallardo will become the world’s second highest paid coach after compatriot Diego Simeone, technical director of the Spanish Atletico Madrid (37 million euros per year).
Gallardo will overtake England’s Pep Guardiola of Spain, who earns an annual salary of 20 million euros, and Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp of Germany (15 million euros per season).
TYC Sports correspondent confirmed that Marcelo Gallardo had already agreed with the Saudi team to succeed Nuno Santo.
Gaiardo will take charge of the Tigers’ Castle after the dismissal of Portuguese coach Nuno Santo, due to fluctuating results.
Gaiardo left River Plate by the end of last year, after a long stint with the Argentine giant, with a host of local and continental titles.
