Press reports reveal new developments on Jota ‘s future with the Saudi al-itthad club, amid interest from global clubs in signing the player in the ongoing winter transfer market.
Jota Pedro Neves (24) had joined the ranks of the Saudi al-itthad in the summer Mercato, coming from Celtic for about 30 million euros, but was unable to book a base seat with the Tigers in the Saudi League due to regulations allowing only 8 professionals on the teams’ rosters.
That prompted the Portuguese star to call for his departure just 6 months after his arrival, looking for a team with whom he could continuously engage, especially as the federation relies heavily on Igor Cornado in left wing position.
One condition that keeps Jota from leaving
According to Italian journalist and contract expert Rudy Galetti, the Federal Tigers administration and team coach Marcelo Gallardo set one condition that will determine Jota’s future with the al-itthad.
Galiti indicated that the requirement is to sign a suitable replacement at the same position in Mercato this January, which will create the required depth in the squad, and will not be affected in the event of the Portuguese player’s departure.
The Italian journalist also confirmed that Jota has already received 3 offers from different clubs to sign him in the current period, with the player starting to discuss those offers and choose the best for him.
Offer from his previous club
There have been previous reports of Celtic’s interest in regaining their player in the current period, with manager Branden Rogers (50) pushing hard to get Jota back from the al-itthad already on January transfers.
This is according to a report published by the daily Daily Daily Record, which indicates the Scottish club’s desire to borrow its former player until the end of the current season 2023/24.
