Spain’s David Villa and Italian legends Paulo Maldini visited FIFA on Sunday, Saudi Arabia, to promote the 2023 Club World Cup, hosted by Jeddah for the first time from December 12-22.

Villa and Maldini  met sports audiences at the Club World Cup promotional tour site on Jeddah’s Cornish, addressing the tournament trophy and highlighting memories, as former champions and their expectations for the current tournament.

The second-stage promotional tour, launched in the Cornish region, aims to enhance public interaction in the run-up to the Club World Cup, during which the original trophy is shown, as well as a range of entertainment activities that allow fans to have fun experiences and participate in the festive atmosphere in Jeddah as part of its preparations to host the global event.

On this occasion, Paulo Maldini said, “I am pleased to see these extraordinary preparations under way to organize a special version of the tournament. I have already experienced this experience and I am fully aware of the passion and enthusiasm of the public here in Saudi Arabia. I am very confident that the FIFA Club World Cup will provide a great experience for all the fans and teams involved.”

David Villa said: “I am delighted to be here in Jeddah to highlight this FIFA Club World Cup edition, I have every confidence in Saudi Arabia’s ability to organize this great tournament as best as possible, and I cannot wait to see the stands full of football fans.”

The Club World Cup is played annually, with the participation of the top-ranked clubs in the continental federations and the host country’s representative. The competition has a competitive and enthusiastic atmosphere, providing fans of all ages with the opportunity to view a range of world’s best football talent.

Saudi Arabia hosts the twentieth edition of the Club World Cup on the stadiums of King Abdullah Sports City and Prince Abdullah Al Faisal Stadium, where Jeddah hosts the seven qualifying club matches: Saudi Al-itthad “hosts” and Saudi League champions, Manchester City English “European Champions”, Orawa Reds of Japan “Asian Champions”, Ahli Egyptian “African Champions”, Auckland City of New Zealand “Oceania Champions”, Klopp Lyon of Mexico “CONCACAF-North America” and Fluminense of Brazil.
