Al-Taraji Club is a prominent Saudi Arabian professional sports club located in Qatif. The club was formed through the merger of two local football clubs, Al-Bader and Al-Shate, which were the sole representatives of Qatif in football at the time.

Club Establishment:

Al-Taraji Club, known by its current name, was founded in as a result of the merger between Al-Shat and Al-Badr clubs. These two clubs were the sole representatives of Al-Qatif City at the time. The club adopted a logo combining the colors blue, red, and yellow, symbolizing the unity of Al-Badr's blue and yellow emblem and Al-Shat's blue and red emblem.

The origins of the Al-Taraji Club trace back to the mid-1950s when several clubs emerged in Al-Qatif, including Tualif, Bour Said, Al-Noor, and Al-Nasr. These clubs underwent a series of mergers that eventually led to the formation of Al-Shat and Al-Badr. In this context, Al-Taraji represents an extension of the early clubs in Al-Qatif, making it one of the oldest clubs not only in Al-Qatif Governorate but also throughout the entire Eastern Province. Consequently, it holds the prestigious title of being the "Dean of Eastern Province Clubs."

Throughout its extensive history, the club has served as a breeding ground for talented athletes who have gone on to represent national teams in various sports disciplines. These include football, basketball, volleyball, and handball. Distinguished athletes from Al-Taraji Club, such as Abdulrahman Abdullah Al-Qassab, Abdul Rab Al-Nabi Al-Zayer, Osman Marzouk, Nizar Abbas, Hassan Al-Raheb, Abdulaziz Abu Al-Saud, Ahmed Al-Gharab, Mohamed Al-Zayer, Faisal Eid, Mohamed Eid, Shouqi Al-Jishi, Nizar Al-Awami, Sayed Mohsen Ramadan, Ali Baqi, Bassam Al-Khanizi, Muayad Baqi, Mohamed Al-Khatir, and Hussein Baqi, have excelled in their respective sports.

It's noteworthy that Saudi Arabia's first-ever Olympic medal was a bronze medal in taekwondo, achieved by a player from Al-Taraji Club, "Ibrahim Jaafar," at the 1988 Seoul Olympics. This remarkable achievement further underscores the club's rich history and contributions to sports excellence.

Al-Qatif Stadium is Located in Al-Qatif, Saudi Arabia, with a capacity of 12,000 spectators. It primarily hosts football matches.

Al-Taraji Club's Achievements:

Despite ongoing challenges, Al-Taraji Club has a rich history of achievements in various sports. Here are some of its notable accomplishments: Football: Al-Taraji Club experienced a golden era in its early years following the merger of Al-Shatea and Al-Badr clubs. Although its football team faced setbacks and budget constraints, it remained competitive in regional and national competitions. Individual Sports: Despite the lack of facilities, Al-Taraji excelled in individual sports such as bodybuilding, weightlifting, swimming, taekwondo, and boxing. Athletes from the club have represented Saudi Arabia in various international competitions and brought home medals and championships. Facilities: The club recognized the importance of having its sports facilities. In 2009, a temporary football field with natural grass was established on leased land, along with fields for handball, basketball, and volleyball, all equipped with lighting. Additionally, there are ongoing efforts to construct a permanent headquarters and modern sports facilities for Al-Taraji near the Prince Nayef Sports City in Al-Qatif. Promising Football Performance: In 2011, Al-Taraji Club achieved promotion to the second division of football, with ambitious plans to further advance to the first division. These achievements reflect the club's dedication to sports development in the region, despite the challenges it has faced.
