Frenchman Karim Benzema, attacking the al-itthad of Jeddah team, posted a vague message, amid news that he had caused a crisis among brigadier general officials hours earlier.
The former Real Madrid captain at the Etihad, who joined him early in the last season, did not cope and instead of assisting the team, his name throughout the season remained linked to crises.
On Saturday, Benzema posted a short video via X, while in a gym where he was performing some physical training, commenting: “The whole team is attacking.”
The French star did not explain whether or not he was critical of the Tigers’ new deal file and how it was managed.
Koura had published through his sources today that Benzema had inserted himself in the selection file of the new technical director of the al-itthad, provoking a sedition between Ramon Blanis, the club’s sporting director, and the president of the nonprofit club Loai Nazir.
At a time when FICSA was close to announcing its contract with former Milan coach Stefano Pioli, the French name Christophe Galtier, close to Benzema, was recently put forward for the task.
Benzema had previously been trained by Galtier at his former French club Lyon for the 2006-2007 season.
The release of Galtier’s name caused Ramon Blanis, the federation’s sporting director, to threaten to leave the club because of his objection to that nomination, which came despite agreement with Pioli on all details, including the duration of the contract (3 years), and the annual salary expected to be within $15 million.
Luai Nazir had previously confirmed that former coach Jayardo had asked for Karim Benzema to be made redundant but had been told by management that it was not possible because he was one of the main pillars of the polarization programme, which included a number of major global stars.
The former Real Madrid captain only scored 9 goals in 21 games at the Roshen Pro League level last season and also created 7 goals.
The league finished fifth, failing to book any seat in the Asian championships next season, as does the Saudi Super Cup.
