Four million euros is the price for Nuno Santo’s disengagement

The value of the sums that the Al-Ittihad team must pay to Portuguese coach Nuno Santo will amount to approximately 4 million euros after the administration’s decision to dispense with the coach last week.

The Saudi Sports newspaper said that Nuno Santo will receive 4 million euros in salaries for the remaining period of the contract, estimated at about 8 months.

Last week, the Ittihad Club, announced the dismissal of Nuno Santo, the team’s coach, from his position, and assigned his assistant, Hassan Khalifa, to take over the task temporarily in his place, until a new technical staff was hired, explaining that Santo’s dismissal came after a comprehensive evaluation process for the past stage.

Al-Ittihad won by four goals in the immediately following match, which followed the dismissal of the Portuguese coach.

Al-Ittihad Jeddah team occupies fifth place in the Saudi League table with 24 points, 11 points behind Al-Hilal, the leader of the competition, after 13 rounds.

The Saudi Al-Ittihad Club will participate in the Club World Cup hosted by the Kingdom next month as champion of the Saudi League, as there are 29 days remaining until the official start of the 20th edition of the Club World Cup, which will be held from December 12 to 22, 2023.

Reports indicate that the Saudi club management has opened the door to negotiations with Spaniard Julen Labotegui, the former Real Madrid coach, to take over as coach of the team to succeed Santo.
