Saudi Arabia’s top football team on Tuesday faces its Palestinian counterpart in the second Green Prep Match in preparation for the 2023 Asian Cup Qatar, which kicks off on January 12.

This is the Saudi team’s second Test match since arriving in Doha for the tournament,

which was crowned in 1984, 1988 and 1996, and will be competing in Group F in the group stage, accompanied by the Oman, Thailand and Kyrgyzstan teams.

Historically, the two sides met in 12 confrontations that prevailed for the Green by winning 7 matches and drawing 5.

The Palestinian national team did not win against the Green, and their last clash ended in a 1-1 draw in the Arab Cup hosted by Qatar in December 2021.

Saudi Arabia’s Lakhdar beat his Lebanese counterpart for an unanswered goal in the test match that they gathered last Tuesday in Doha as part of their preparatory camp in Celine Resort.

The technical staff of the Saudi team led by the Italian Roberto Mancini completed all the preparations for the match,

during which he will pay a number of new faces that did not participate in the Lebanon match.

The Saudi team will face off in its first tournament match,

its Omani counterpart on January 16, and then face Kyrgyzstan and Thailand on January 21 and 25 of the same month respectively.

For his part, the Palestinian team will play in Group C alongside Iran, the United Arab Emirates and Hong Kong on 14 January,

then face the Emirates on 18 and conclude their group stage with a meeting with Hong Kong on 23 January.
