The Board of Directors of Al-Hilal Club, chaired by Fahad bin Nafel, announced the new Chief Executive Officer, who will assume responsibility, succeeding engineer Abdullah Al-Jarbou.

Al-Hilal published an official statement announcing the appointment of Spain’s Steve Calzada, the club’s chief executive, as the successor to engineer Abdullah al-Jarboua, beginning in January 2024.

Al-Hilal’s statement revealed that the new chief executive has assumed many leadership positions in a number of clubs, most notably Manchester City and Barcelona.

Al-Hilal wished the new CEO success in his career in order to achieve the desired goals and benefit of the club, to delight the fans.

The Al-Hilal Club thanked Engineer Abdullah Al-Jarboua after efforts throughout his tenure as Chief Executive Officer, especially since he is one of the most outstanding competencies that served the Club as a player and administrator, and a member of the Board of Directors.

Calzada’s career for more than two decades has been abundant with many executive leadership experiences in the sports sector, where he initially served as commercial director and marketing officer at Club Barcelona in 2002, until taking over as commercial director at City Football Group since 2019.

Calzada holds a bachelor’s degree in economics and a master’s degree in business administration from the “ESADE” Business School in Barcelona.

The Board of Directors valued Gerbou’s efforts throughout his tenure as Chief Executive Officer of the Al-hilal, where he is one of the competencies that served the Al-hilal as a player, as an administrator, as a member of the Board of Directors and as Chief Executive Officer.

Calzada has worked with the Saudi Al-hilal before in 2016.

The Spaniard posted a tweet on his Twitter account after Al-Hilal won the 2021 Asian Champions League, saying: “Congratulations to the Al-hilal.. Proud of our strategic advisory project to relaunch the club in 2016, which translated into two Asian Champions League titles in 3 years. “
